Birth and early life of Jagdeep Dhankhar

Jagdeep Dhankhar was born on 18 May 1951 in Kithana village, Jhunjhunu district, Rajasthan. Jagdeep belongs to a Jat family.

His father's name is Ch. Gokal Chand and mother's name is Mrs. Kesari Devi and both have passed away. Jagdeep's elder brother's name is Kuldeep Dhankhar who is married to Mrs Sucheta.

Jagdeep's family has 4 siblings. His younger brother's name is Randeep Dhankhar who is married to Mrs. Saroj. He also has a sister named Indra and his sister is married to Mr. Dharam Pal Dudi.

Jagdeep Dhankhar had his early education from class 1 to 5 in Government Primary School, Kithana village and after that in class 6 he took admission in Government Middle School, Ghardhana at a distance of 4-5 kms and due to the school being away, he was unable to reach other parts of the village. In the year 1962, he also got his education from Sainik School. His elder brother Kuldeep Dhankhar also enrolled in the same school to complete his studies.

Political journey of Jagdeep Dhankhar

Before joining the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), he was an MP from Jhunjhunu in Rajasthan from 1989 to 1991. He was also a member of Janata Dal. Dhankhar was also a member of the Legislative Assembly from Kishangarh in Rajasthan between 1993 and 1998.

Elected to the 9th Lok Sabha from Jhunjhunu parliamentary constituency in the year 1989. In 1990, he was elected chairman of a parliamentary committee.

After that Union Minister in the year 1990. and was elected to the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly in 1993-1998 from Kishangarh constituency of Ajmer district.

Was involved in granting OBC status to other backward classes including Jat community in the state of Rajasthan. Hon'ble President of India Shri Ram Nath Kovind appointed Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar as the Governor of West Bengal on 20th July, 2019 under Article 155 of the Constitution of India. Warrant issued.
